Get ahead with Winter Term and make the most of your winter break!

Last Day to Register: January 5, 2012

Although you are permitted to register up through January 5, 2012, some instructors may determine that you have missed too much of the class and require that you drop. It is advised that you register no later than January 2, 2012.

Winter Term offers more than 350 undergraduate and graduate courses to current Maryland students, visiting students from other colleges, graduates, professionals, and more. In just three weeks, you’ll catch up on credits, satisfy a requirement, explore a new interest, or accelerate progress toward graduation. Courses are offered morning, afternoon, evening, and online.

If you are currently not a student at the University of Maryland College Park but are interested in registering for Winter Term, you must first apply.

WINTER TERM REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT TIMELINE

Current Maryland students may simply register. Visiting students who apply and receive notification of their acceptance for the Winter Term may also register. Winter Term’s payment policy does not follow the standard fall/spring semester plan. Payment for Winter Term is due immediately upon registration.

If payment does not successfully post, you will be canceled for non-payment and blocked from future registration. For complete information on Winter Term’s payment policy, click here.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

Winter Term registration requires that you are attending in fall 2011 or have accepted spring 2012 admission. If not, then you are not a current student and you’ll need to apply.

  • Visit MyUM
  • Log in with your Directory ID and password (If you don't know this, click on the link Discover It Here).
  • Click on Academics & Testudo.
  • Under Registration Time & Blocks, select your registration term.
  • Click on Take Me to Registration Drop/Add.
  • Enter the course and section number(s) into the Drop/Add table and hit ENTER.
    • Please Note: Messages regarding the course you are adding may appear above or below the registration block after you hit enter. Please read the message then hit ENTER again to add the course.
  • When finished with registration, hit “Sign Off.” You’ll be sent to the Payment Calculation Page. Registration is not complete unless payment is submitted.
  • Estimated Billing Worksheet: Print this worksheet or open the link in a separate window to assist you with the registration process.

How to Waitlist

  1. Visit MyUM
  2. Log in with your Directory ID and password
  3. Click on Academics & Testudo.
  4. Under Registration Time & Blocks, choose the registration term.
  5. Click on Take Me to Registration Drop/Add.
  6. Enter the course and section number(s) into the Drop/Add table and hit ENTER.
    • You must enter the appropriate section number you would like to waitlist, otherwise you will be shown other sections that are still open, or none at all if it is the only section offered for the term.
  7. The next screen will confirm that the course is full. Select the section and hit RETURN SECTIONS.
  8. Process daily waitlist check-in beginning on the first day of classes at my.umd.edu. Click on Academics & Testudo and follow the waitlist check-in link. If one day is missed you will be dropped from the waitlist and must start over.

REGISTRATION VIA MAIL, FAX OR IN PERSON

Paper registration for Winter Term requires that you are attending in fall 2011 or have accepted spring 2012 admission. If not, then you are not a current student and therefore need to apply. Payment must accompany this form.
