Explanation of Program Fees

Program Tuition

  • Charged at the University-approved program rate to program-admitted students. The academic year runs from fall semester through the following Summer Session.

On-Campus Graduate Student Services Fee

  • Fall or Spring (16-Week) Semester: Assessed to students based on the number of registered credits for a given semester for programs held on campus. Supports campus facilities use and maintenance, health services, campus-wide technology services, student registration services, recreation center, shuttle bus, libraries, police, computer labs, writing language labs, and disability support services. Please note: Notwithstanding any other provision of this or any other University publication, the University reserves the right to make changes in tuition, fees, and other charges at any time such changes are deemed necessary by the University and the University System of Maryland Board of Regents. Although changes in tuition, fees, and charges ordinarily will be announced in advance, the University reserves the right to make such changes without prior announcement.

Other UMD Fees

Late Registration Fee: $20.00. Charged to any student who registers for their first class on or after the first day of the semester/term.

Record Adjustment Fee: $100.00. For all adjustments to your student record that are received after the end of a specific term or semester in which you are registered. This includes all requests for registration and/or withdrawal.

Gainful Employment

The U.S. Department of Education requires colleges and universities to disclose certain information for any Title IV eligible program that "prepares students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation." Title IV programs include all graduate certificate programs. For information on gainful employment, click here.
