Overview

During the spring semester, credit courses are open to admitted UMD students and DC Consortium students. Non-UMD students interested in credit must first apply. For credit courses, credits and grade post to the UMD transcript. Non-credit workshops are open to any student not seeking credit. For non-credit workshops, neither credit nor grade is earned; workshop enrollment does not post to the UMD transcript. 

Courses and workshops meet in the Center Conference Room, The Phillips Collection, 1600 21st Street, NW, Washington, DC. For directions and parking, click here. The University reserves the right to cancel courses or workshops due to insufficient enrollment or for other reasons it deems necessary. Appropriate refunds will be made.

Enrollment Information

Courses and workshops offered at the University of Maryland Center for Art and Knowledge at The Phillips Collection during spring semester have the following enrollment process. Students who enroll in UMD spring courses and/or workshops are subject to the rules, policies and regulations found at registrar.umd.edu and www.president.umd.edu/administration/policies.

Credit Courses: For the spring semester, except for DC Consortium Students, those who register for credit courses are subject to fall mandatory fees which provide access to University facilities, transportation, and events. DC Consortium Students and Non-UMD students who apply and are admitted receive a University ID# which may be used to access any online element (course syllabi, etc.) which the course instructor may have planned. 

  • Current UMD Students: Register via Testudo
  • DC Consortium Students: Register via Consortium
  • Non-UMD Students Interested in Credit: Must first apply for the spring semester via the Undergraduate Admissions Website.   
    • Apply for Special Audiences
    • Select an option and submit the application. Questions should be directed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, phone: 301-314-8345 or 800-422-5867; email: um-admit@uga.umd.edu.

Non-Credit Workshop: Enrollment is limited and forms are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Incomplete enrollment forms will not be considered. Students are notified via e-mail upon processing of the completed enrollment form. Workshop students are not subject to fall mandatory fees and do not have access to online course elements or University resources.

Credit Courses: The spring semester calendars and deadlines govern all credit courses. Spring semester is 16-weeks. See Academic Calendars for spring semester start and end dates and more. Information for specific processes is located at the following Website pages.

Non-Credit Workshops

  • Registration Deadlines
    • Last Day to Submit Workshop Enrollment Form, January 20.
       
  • Cancellation Deadlines: There are no refunds after the date below. Cancellation requests must be received in writing via e-mail to oes@umd.edu. Please include your full name, university ID#, and statement of cancellation.
    • Last Day to Cancel Workshop with 100% refund, January 23.

Tuition & Fees

Application Fee: $75

Credit Course, Spring 2018. Tuition and fee rates are governed by approved UMD fall semester rates. Below is a listing of all tuition and fee rates that apply. For an explanation of these charges, visit bursar.umd.edu/Tuitionfees.html.

  • MD In-state Resident, Undergraduate: $TBD per credit
  • Out-of-state Resident, Undergraduate: $TBD per credit
  • DC Consortium Student: Home Institution Rate
  • Student Services Fee, 8 or fewer credit: $TBD, flat rate

Non-credit Workshop, Spring 2018, Flat Rate.

  • Non-Phillips Members: $TBD
  • Phillips Members: $TBD

Please note: Notwithstanding any other provision of this or any other University publication, the University reserves the right to make changes in tuition, fees and other charges at any time such changes are deemed necessary by the University and the University System of Maryland Board of Regents. Although changes in tuition, fees, and charges ordinarily will be announced in advance, the University reserves the right to make such changes without prior announcement.

Payment Information

Credit Courses: Spring payment policy follow the standard fall/spring semester plan. For the payment policy, visit bursar.umd.edu/MonthlyBilling.html. After you register for a credit course, charges will post to your student account. To submit payment, see the instructions below. The University will assess a 2.0% processing fee for all credit and debit card transactions for tuition and fee payments. 

Non-Credit Workshops: Payment for non-credit workshops must accompany the form.
