Overview | Things to Consider | Online Orientation FAQs

The online orientation is an option for those enrolled Freshmen Connection students unable to attend the one-day, in-person, on-campus orientation. In the online orientation, students gather the same information that is received at the on-campus orientation.

  • The online orientation requires that you have access to a computer with high-speed internet.
  • The online orientation is through ELMS/Canvas, UMD’s secure system that requires you to login with your Directory ID and password.
  • The online orientation consists of several modules that provide information from campus departments and your Freshmen Connection fall academic advisors. You will be required to demonstrate understanding of the material pertinent by completing short quizzes at the end of each module.
  • The online orientation modules may be completed at times convenient for you, but must be completed in full no later than July 13.
