Terp Discovery offers a limited number of financial scholarships. Awards are competitive and made on a first-come, first-served basis, based on funding availability. Awards are made on a rolling basis. Awards do not cover 100% of the program’s costs. Students who received an award in a previous year are not eligible for subsequent years.

The Terp Discovery program application and Terp Discovery scholarship application are separate. Students must first submit a program application and receive acceptance to Terp Discovery before applying for a scholarship. Incomplete scholarship applications, or scholarship applications from students not accepted to Terp Discovery, will not be reviewed.

To apply, see Terp Discovery Scholarship Application [The Terp Discovery 2019 application will be available in late Febuary 2019]. The deadline to submit a scholarship application is April 1. Students are notified by May 1. If you have questions, email discovery@umd.edu.

Scholarship awards are determined as follows:

  1. Admission into Terp Discovery.
  2. Submission of complete scholarship application. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
  3. Merit. I.e., based on information contained within the scholarship application.
  4. Student grades.
  5. Funding availability.
