Anne Baum, Associate Director, Summer, Winter, & Undergraduate Programs: Anne has spent over ten years working with students at the University of Maryland. Her professional background includes work with international professionals and community development initiatives in the neighborhoods surrounding the University. Anne earned her BA in communication at Truman State University in her home state of Missouri. Her Master’s Degree was completed at UMD.
Jamie Stednitz, Manager, Undergraduate Programs: Jamie focuses on programs that serve pre-college students, first-year freshmen, and transfer students at the University of Maryland. Her professional background includes working as a career counselor, academic advisor, and service learning coordinator which have allowed her to gain an appreciation for students’ growth in and outside of the classroom. She earned her B.A. in Psychology at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and her M.A. in College Student Development and Administration from Shepherd University in West Virginia.
Ashley Mena, Coordinator, Pre-College Programs: Ashley is pursuing her Master's degree in Student Affairs at the University of Maryland. She received her B.A. from Rutgers University in Latino and Caribbean Studies. Her background includes working as a college readiness mentor and summer bridge program administration. She is passionate about helping students grow into better versions of themselves and looks forward to spending the summer with Terp Young Scholars!
Mentors: Mentors are UMD undergraduate degree-seeking students selected for their campus leadership and problem-solving skills. All mentors complete federal and state child protective services and criminal background checks. Mentors are a resource accessible to students during the program and support students in a range of methods, from mentor drop-in hours to answering questions about the program and student life.
