START Graduate Programs are housed in the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. START is a University of Maryland-based research and education center comprised of an international network of scholars is committed to the scientific study of the causes and human consequences of terrorism in the United States and around the world. START educates, mentors, and trains the next generation of national security scholars and practitioners.

START Graduate Programs feature 100% online instruction, providing students with advanced education on the causes, dynamics, and impacts of terrorism and wider issues related to human security in a complex world. Designed for working professionals, students can earn a University of Maryland degree while continuing to work full-time with minimal disruption to personal and professional life. Full-time or part-time study is welcomed.

Master of Professional Studies in Security and Terrorism Studies, Online (MPTS)
