MPS in Clinical Psychological Science

For working professionals looking to begin or advance their career in the mental health field, the Master of Professional Studies in Clinical Psychological Science (MPS-Clinical Psychology) is an exceptional solution. UMD’s program provides rigorous training in the scientific approach to clinical psychology while emphasizing evidence-based assessment and intervention. The program is a unique addition to the Washington, DC and Baltimore metropolitan area, providing Master’s-level education with a focus on contemporary theories of the causes of psychopathology and interventions for these conditions.

MPS-Clinical Psychology is designed to improve your marketable expertise, professional flexibility and mobility, career advancement readiness, and preparation for Ph.D. training. Students receive advanced training in research methods, the ethics involved in conducting clinical research and practice, clinical measurement and assessment, and the impact of culture on mental health. The program is offered through the Department of Psychology in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland.

MPS-Clinical Psychology is a 30-credit graduate program designed to be completed in as little as 15 months while minimally disrupting personal and professional life. The program features seminar-style, face to face instruction complemented with online assignments, supplementary materials, and faculty “office hours”. Face to face classes meet in the evening at the UMD College Park campus with instruction provided by Department of Psychology faculty and experts in the field. MPS-Clinical Psychology uses the term academic calendar: in a 12-week term, students complete course work in 11 weeks; week 12 is reserved for finals.
