The Graduate Certificate of Professional Studies in Multimedia Journalism (GC-Multimedia Journalism) is a 12-credit program designed for professional communicators to learn the skills and concepts needed for digital storytelling across media platforms, particularly the Internet and mobile devices. The program combines practical training in video, audio, photography, blogging, and interactive web publishing with the critical application of journalism’s honored principles. Focusing particularly on the Internet and mobile devices, the program helps you stay current with trends and software, building skills that are in demand in news organizations, businesses and non-profit organizations. Topics include Multimedia Journalism, Online Journalism, Mobile Journalism and New Media Entrepreneurship.

GC-Multimedia Journalism is offered by the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. The program features seminar-style, face to face learning with instruction provided by UMD faculty and experts in the field. Courses meet Saturdays at the College Park campus, in Knight Hall, a high-tech building that combines classrooms, multimedia labs, offices, and professional journalism centers in an inviting, open space. The program can be completed in as little as nine months while minimally disrupting personal and professional life.
